  • The German Mamma Mia! staging in Stuttgart has now celebrated the one millionth spectator. The lady on the picture was surprised with a Ford Street Ka on December 11.
Mamma Mia's millionth visitor in Stuttgart
After 500 performances on October 15, the musical continues its success in Stuttgart and has been seen by 23 million people world-wide, over 18,000 every day.

  • Gemini performed at the Maria Magdalena Church in Stockholm on December 1, 2005 for 75 minutes. They sang Christmas songs, Beatles songs, their own songs plus parts of ABBA's "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" in Chinese. The concert was wonderful!

Many thanks to Steffen Stolze for the news and the nice pictures.

  • Unfortunately Universal Germany told us that the Frida DVD is not available in Germany. The box set can be ordered at the record stores. If you need just the DVD, try an online shop.

  • The Abba Mania Show by German RTL TV on December 3 had 3.18 million or 13.7 % viewers. Ralph Hans Steiner told us that Kabel 1 had the best November TV ratings in 5 years with 5.6 % total viewers thanks to the ABBA evening and "ABBA The Movie" with 9.0 % of the "advertising relevant" viewers.

  • Universal has informed us that the Frida Box Set will be released in Germany one day later, on December 6. The DVD and CD track listing is on the ABBASite.

  • Benny has now composed a special mobile phone ringtone which will be sent to everyone making a donation to the Red Cross in Sweden. This is part of a Christmas campaign starting in November.

  • A new DVD by Stefanie Hertel, Eberhard Hertel and Stefan Mross includes two German ABBA cover versions: "Fernando" and "Danke für die Lieder" (Thank You For The Music). Thanks to Adriaan A. T. Hout for the info!

  • Many thanks again for all your mail arriving after the broadcast of "ABBA - Die Show". We got a lot of mail because "The Day Before You Came" was mentioned. In the show it was correctly said that this was ABBA's last recording together. It was not said it was the last single release.
Of course I would have liked to talk more about ABBA in the show, but unfortunately the time schedule was too limited. As it was planned as an entertainment programme, Sonya Kraus and Wigald Boning were invited. I can assure you that both of them - like Ingolf Lück - were very interested in ABBA, even if some of you got a different impression. Cindy & Bert were also very interested and we talked a lot during the commercial breaks.
I made a little mistake myself which I didn't notice until the broadcast. Björn & Benny's German single is of course titled "Hey Musikant" and not "Hey alter Mann" (which is the direct translation of "Hej gamle man")!

My ABBA socks did not suffer any damage by the way!!!

  • There is now also a Belgian Mamma Mia! website. Mamma Mia! runs from March 4th until April 30th in Antwerp and tickets can be ordered now.
Many thanks to our Belgian correspondent Stany!

  • Thanks again for all your e-mails, which will be answered as soon as possible. Unfortunately we are not able to arrange meetings with ABBA members etc. Thank you for your understanding!

  • A big Thank You for your nice guestbook remarks and all the lovely e-mails I (Regina) received after my appearance in "ABBA - Die Show"! I was very happy when I got them. After the show, we had so many visitors on our website like never before.

A big welcome to all our new members as well! Because we have to work on all those mails and membership forms, it may take a little while. Please be patient if you have to wait for a reply.

  • ABBA - Die Show on November 2 had 1.9 million or 5.9 % viewers, "Best of Formel Eins" 1.33 million or 5.5 % and the German audio version of ABBA The Movie 0.79 million or 6.7 % viewers.

  • Universal has confirmed that the DVDs in the box set ABBA: The Complete Studio Recordings will always be in NTSC format. This means that if you live in a country with PAL or another TV system, you will only be able to view it if your DVD player supports NTSC format and if your TV set is connected via RGB or digital inputs and is able to display 60 Hz vertical frequency (should be listed in the manuals).
ABBA The Movie and the Frida DVD will be available in PAL.

The Frida DVD/box set is a world wide release but they still couldn't tell us which countries will release it or when. Thanks to Universal Music Sweden!

  • ABBA - Die Show with Regina of ABBA-
ABBA Die Show on Kabel 1 Regina's ABBA collection on Kabel 1
"ABBA - Die Show" was recorded on October 1 and will be shown on November 2, 2005 at 8:15 PM local time by German TV Kabel 1. Next comes "Best of Formel Eins: ABBA" (10:18 PM) and "ABBA - The Movie" (10:50 PM, German audio version).

ABBA's way to success until today is shown in the programme. The cover band ABBA Mania sings "Dancing Queen" and "Thank You For The Music", Arrival sings "Money Money Money", Andy Bell of Erasure presents "S.O.S." plus his new single "Crazy" and Marianne Rosenberg sings "Nur Sieger stehn im Licht", the German version of "The Winner Takes It All". Ingolf Lück is the host of the show, talking to Cindy & Bert, Wigald Boning and Sonya Kraus about ABBA. Regina of the ABBA- fan club joins the talk a bit later. She has supported the TV station with many items from her ABBA collection and speaks about it with Ingolf Lück. On the photos you can see the ABBA collection with Regina and all the participants of the show. The recording was very exciting of course, but since the host and the interview guests were very nice and interested, Regina enjoyed the show very much :-)
Now we are all looking forward to the result!

  • Here is a Report on ABBA Mania as recorded for German RTL TV, by our ABBA- member Svenja Glaß. Many thanks, Svenja!

"Finally it all started: Barbara Schöneberger's and Dirk Bach's performance, both (especially Dirk) totally dressed in ABBA style.
The show has a chart concept, counting down from 20. It began with a short summary about ABBA. Then each song which you could vote for on the Internet before, was presented using material from the Definitive Collection DVD etc. More or less known singers, duets or groups performed almost every song, among them ABBA Mania, Max Raabe und das Palastorchester, Michelle Hunziker, Right Said Fred, Mariella Ahrens, Us 5, Banaroo, Ex-No Angel Lucy, and... Dirk Bach and Barbara Schöneberger themselves!!! I can only say that number 2 is the highlight of the show, I was the first one to jump on my feet – at least for the first take, because of a lighting failure we had the pleasure to cheer for this song twice...

I don't want to reveal too much about the songs, but it was clear that just the well-known ones would make it, well, So Long was among them... anyway, the songs were quite well performed with great respect to the original - and it was great!!!

It was an absolute ABBA feeling and even though the applause and repeated presentations were quite stressing, we had a lot of fun!"

  • ABBA The Movie has entered the German Music DVD sales charts at number 1!
It is also number 48 on the album sales charts from October 10.

  • It is now confirmed that Madonna's next single "Hung Up" will include a sample from ABBA's Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! used with permission by Benny & Björn.

  • The DVD ABBA The Movie hit the store shelves in Moscow, Russia on October 6. Both editions (single DVD and Limited Special Edition 2 DVD) are available there.
Many thanks to Dmitry Shipov of the Russian ABBA Fanclub in Moscow!

  • The programme listed on the Swedish website of the Visfestivalen in Västervik has now been updated, but there are no hints on the planned performance by the Hootenanny Singers with Björn Ulvaeus. Some time ago Hansi Schwarz told a newspaper that he wouldn't reveal the dates of a few surprise appearances.

  • Dan Daniell with Father Nicolay Dan Daniell sent us this photo. From the proceedings of the CD single "Lieber Gott", recorded together with Frida, he was able to give Father Nicolay Stremsky and his children in Russia a cheque for 400.000 Roubles. In the meantime, Father Nicolay has 59 children in the orphanage benefitting from the money. You will find more information in our next ABBA- issue.
    Special Thanks to Dan Daniell.

  • Agnetha's website now has a few news updates, including December 15th as the Swedish radio release date of the "Sometimes When I'm Dreaming" single.
